Welcome back!! We hope you are enjoying your summer so far. The weather sure has been crazy. Welcome to Ohio – wait a few minutes and the weather will change.
FUN FACT: Did you know it rains everyday in Florida? Weird but interesting!! A volunteer and her family went last month and they found out. It was funny hearing her stories. If you have ever been, you know!! Remember the fun things we are planning but keeping quiet? Well, here’s the beans. BUT not all of them. If you haven’t heard. We are having a fundraiser and selling outside spaces during the 127 garage sales. The dates are August 7-9th. If you want more information please contact the Facebook page. We will also have the snack bar open to the community to come in and purchase snacks and cool down. All will be by donation. If you, family members, your church, or organization would like to donate food items for this event, PLEASE contact the Facebook page. Let’s all come together and help us raise some money for our building fund. We can do this together as a community. We are always looking for fun energetic folks to volunteer. Are you that person? Can you commit to 1 night a week, once a month or twice a month? Shifts are around 3 hours, that’s it. You get to play games and hang out with some teenagers. They can be very entertaining and you may even learn some new slang words like “bussin, sus, bet, and drip”. Did you know that “drip” refers to someone’s stylish or cool outfit? Yea, I didn’t either. To me, drip is with water and is usually not a good thing. So, you never know what you could learn, no cap!!! BUT WAIT!!! I was just informed that SUS is no longer used. I can’t keep up. Have you ever eaten Ramen noodles? Holy Pasta they are a fan favorite of most of the teens. We can easily go through a case a night. Some kids don’t even get very much to eat at home but some do and they still starving when they arrive. Just an fyi, teen starving, is not really starving. They really just need a good snack and several of them. Usually, the snack bar is the first place they swarm. We have an Amazon wish list. You can head there or our Walmart usually has a great variety of the Ramen cups. They like them all!!! Even the spicy ones. OH!! Don’t forget the drinks. The camels aka teens are always thirsty. If you find pop or water on sale, please share with us or pick up a couple cases. We do appreciate all the community’s involvement with our teen center. The FOP gave us money for a new cooler. Another donation came in for a chest freezer. We got a donation of a hot dog roller last month. Some private donors gave candy and noodles. You’re support means the world to us and the teens. Without your support, there is no teen center. Teens are a big deal in this town. There are a lot of them. If we can only reach a few at a time, that is worth it all of us. We know sometimes we ask for a lot but this center takes a lot to run. Daily expenses, weekly expenses, monthly and yearly expenses. We know we all have them and every little bit helps us. We welcome you to come in and check us out and see what we are all about. What has Portal 2:20 done for you? From the eyes and ears of a 15 year old. “Given me something to do over the summer and to get away from the house for a little while.” Favorite verse and verses – Philippians 4:6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. *Luke 23:28 * Matthew 27:25 * Romans 12:19 Verse of the month – Hebrews 7:25 Thank you, Lord Jesus, that You are able to save me completely because You are always interceding for me. HAVE A BLESSED MONTH!!!! |
